VIP Exhibit Reception
Monday, June 18th, 2018 @Jewish Museum of Florida, FIU, Miami Beach, FL
It was standing room only, and Charlie would have loved it. The first ever museum exhibit to a press agent, honoring Charlie Cinnamon. He was a superstar publicist, with famous and not famous friends and clients. Wildly creative, persistent, and a man of honesty and integrity is how many described him. Recognized as the creator of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, conceived to invoke the atmosphere of Irma La Douce, set on the streets of a gritty Paris. If it were not for Charlie Cinnamon the Coconut Grove Arts Festival might not exist.
He is credited with being the driving force that brought Broadway to South Florida. Having earned the Carbonell Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Arts (1983), and the Coconut Grove Playhouse Lifetime Community Achievement Award (2006). He collected clients, who then became lifelong friends, such a Elizabeth Taylor. He admired her diamond earrings, she turned them into cuff flings for Charlie, a gift he cherished until his death in 2016. Great collection of photographs and mementos in this exhibit, which runs until Sept. 9th at the Jewish Museum of Florida- FIU. www.jmof.edu
