Biography:
Raised in Rye, NY, Michael Braun studied Industrial Design at the Univ. of Bridgeport. In his early 20’s, he became fascinated with color, feel & design of clothes. He turned this passion into art that he could wear. Not only did he design clothes as well as sew them, but often hand painted, and trimmed with embroidery, ribbons, buttons, as well. In 1967, he began selling these clothes to local musicians & within a year was making wardrobes for Jimi Hendrix, the most famous being the turquoise hand-crushed by Michael, velvet pants Jimi wore at Woodstock. Word of mouth within the rock world led many top rock artists to seek out the clothing designs from Michael and are seen in magazines, on album covers, etc. Then came the wrestlers, Hulk Hogan, and the most famous for Michael’s designs was Macho Man Randy Savage. In 1997, after experimenting with digital art for wrestlers, he began painting fine art. First showing in art galleries, Michael’s beautiful abstracts now reach a wider audience throughout the outdoor art shows mostly in Florida.
