Kate Tremel has been exploring vessel themes with ceramic materials for more than 30 years. She uses a Pre-Colombian paddle and anvil technique learned as an undergraduate anthropology student in Peru. She is interested in the socio-cultural meanings attributed to materials and techniques. She has participated in residencies and exhibitions in Mexico, Peru, Japan, and France. She is a Lecturer at the Penny Stamps School of Art and Design and holds an MFA in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art and BA in Spanish and Anthropology from Middlebury College.
