Biography:
“In 1976, while in law school at UNC, I made a study lamp, to facilitate stand- up reading. I had a 7-foot long piece of metal left over. It kept ‘looking at me.’ I bent it into a strange shape. All that summer, I kept bending and shaping metal. At summer’s end, I took my work to New York and got a favorable reaction. Wouldn’t it be interesting to be an artist for a while before returning to law school? Never returned…full-time sculptor ever since. I live above my studio & gallery in Chapel Hill, NC”
