Carmen Lagos’s paintings exhibit a keen grasp of the innate structure of nature-not only the obvious forms of leaves and blossoms but also their more subtle relationships to each other. In her images, she deftly creates order out of the chaos of abundant growth. In doing so, she helps us see her subjects more clearly and appreciate them more fully, her earthly palette is subdued compared with Castillo’s, yet her painting teem with life and energy. It is obvious from the detail in her work that she is closely tied to and intimately understands her subjects both as abstract forms and as vital lining organisms.
